Canteens FAQ

The service is reserved for students enrolled at the University of Trento and in advanced training courses of other institutes/universities and facilities other than Unitn (including, for example: Conservatory, Trentino Art Academy,  Advanced Training) and students enrolled in university and postgraduate courses in the health field in the province of Trento, as well as teachers and PhD students.

Special agreements are also in place in the cities of Rovereto and San Michele.
Access to the canteens is also granted to the Students enrolled in courses of the health field who are formally enrolled at the University of Verona, at the same prices as students enrolled at the University of Trento.

Access and relevant fees depend on the specific role assigned to each user by the University.

Variations are possible only in the case of food intolerances. It is possible to check the menu and the allergens for each proposed dish through the Opera4U App.

Please always inform our staff of any food allergies or intolerances. This ensures your meal can be prepared safely and appropriately.

To contact our dietician for specific needs or to request a personalized meal plan, please write to ristorazione@operauni.tn.it.

No, the use of our canteens is for those who buy their meals in the canteen.

No, it is not possible to share the meal with another user (even if they have an electronic wallet).

The electronic wallet is a feature of the Opera4U app, a sort of rechargeable virtual bank account that can be used to pay for meals in university canteens. All transactions, remaining credit and all purchases made by the user are registered in the electronic wallet.

The old system (active until October 31, 2025) does not allow the transfer of remaining balance to the electronic wallet. However, you can still use up your remaining balance until October 31, 2025. After this date, any unused balance cannot be refunded or transferred.

If you are a Unitn user, you have to log in using your university credentials, not using other email addresses. This will automatically activate the app.

If you fall into one of these categories, you will have to wait for Unitn to register and validate your institutional address (@studenti.unitn.it) before you can proceed with authentication!

  • Higher Education / Conservatory / Trentino Art Academy students: You must submit a registration request using any email address. Please wait for validation from Opera, which will verify your enrollment status directly with your respective institute.
  • Healthcare students: 1. Complete the self-certification form (found in the “electronic wallet” section) and send it along with a copy of your ID to @Ristorazione OperaUniTN. 2. Submit a registration request using any email address and wait for Opera to validate your account.

The Opera4U app will no longer be validated, and you will lose access to the electronic wallet function. For this reason, we strongly recommend using any remaining credit before your graduation date or within the following 24 hours.

Due to organizational and management reasons, the catering service provider at the Gilda restaurant in Rovereto cannot provide top-up services at the cash desk. You can always top up your wallet online via credit/prepaid card or by visiting the cash desks at the university canteens in the city or the hill area.

The conditions for requesting a refund of any remaining balance in your e-wallet are outlined in the Terms and Conditions of Use, under the section “Canteens – Electronicwallet”.

If these conditions are met, you must complete the “Remaining Balance Request” form available in the same section and send it to ristorazione@operauni.tn.it within the specified deadline.

Important:

  • The refund will be issued exclusively to a bank account held or co-held by the student.

  • The request must be submitted directly by the person concerned.

The account will be automatically deactivated  when there are no more the requisites for the fruition of the service, for example in these cases:

  • Graduation
  • Change of major
  • unpaid university taxes
  • irregularities in or failure to complete the enrollment procedure

pn : Students who have presented the request for the scholarship but do not have the prerequisites to obtain the account will have a temporary account in the beginning. In case the scholarship is not assigned the account will be temporarily blocked. When the enrolment procedure is completed ( including the payment of the tax installments and the other payments needed), the account will be reactivated automatically within 24-48 hours
